| 内容記述 | This paper examines the transition of political and economic relations between Japan and China based on the collected life stories of Japanese migrants who have moved to Hong Kong and Shanghai since the mid 1990s.The number of Japanese living in China has increased mainly because of the appreciation of the yen and the internationalization of the Japanese economy. Sociological studies have tended to describe these residents' experiences as a personal lifestyle choice; however, this study found that they decided to move to Asian cities, because of the availability of proper visas and employment opportunities. Hence, political and economic relations had great influence on their personal choices. This paper also discusses the strengths and weaknesses of the qualitative research over the past 20 years. | |||||

| 内容記述 | 本論文は、日本から香港および上海といったアジア域内のグローバル都市への移住を対象として1990年代半ばから行ってきた調査を元に、変容する国際関係を考察する。円高や日本経済の国際化は、日本から海外へ移住する人の増加を促し、日本と「アジア」の政治経済、文化的な関係変化を巡る議論も活性化した。日本からの国際移動は、個人的な文化やライフスタイルの選択という面から考察されることが多いが、ライフストーリーの聞き取りを通して、移住の選択は、取得可能なビザや職探しの可能性を左右する政治、経済関係と強く関わっていることが分かった。また、本研究が行ってきた調査を反省的に振り返ることで、長期的な調査が移住という個人的経験に加えて、政治経済的な国際関係とこれに対する人々の認識の変化を描き出す可能性を検討する。 | |||||
