| 内容記述 | The rapid development in telecommunication technology, along with the diffusion of personal computers, has brought about an age in which people can now collaborate over computer networks. The term, "Computer Supported Co-operative Work" describes a research field in which researchers try to investigate how people work together in an efficient manner using computer systems, for instance, by transferring files, sending electronic mail, or accessing electronic conferences. These new functions of the computer age can be used not only for business and research but also in the field of education. Computer mediated communication (CMC) learning has great possibilities in the application of innovative educational elements in order to create a learning environment which would overcome the limitations of traditional learning methods. In this paper, the authors introduce some theories on instruction and learning which support CMC learning. Based on analysis of case studies in which CMC learning was employed in actual classroom situations both in Japan and the United States, the authors also present some suggestions on how universities could incorporate and utilize CMC learning to greater advantage and discuss some appropriate directions for further research on CMC. | |||||

| 内容記述 | パーソナルコンピュータの普及と通信技術のめざましい進歩によりコンピュータネットワーク環境を利用した協同作業（CSCW:Computer Supported Cooperative Work）という新しいコンピュターの利用法が注目されるようになって来た。ネットワーク環境を使ったコンピュータ利用（CMC:Computer Mediated Communication）としてはファイル転送，電子メールの交換、電子会議の利用などがある。これらの研究面での利用とともに大学教育への活用は新しい学習環境を提供することになり従来からの教育方法を変革する可能性を持っている。本論文ではCMCを支持する教育理論を紹介し，コンピュータネットワークを活用したコミュニケーション(CMC)利用の米国における事例と日本における実験の分析により，大学教育におけるCMCの導入と活用の可能性およびその方向性が示唆された。 | |||||
