| 内容記述 | This essay aims to explore the ways in which contemporary Japanese women marriage migrants refer to an alternative interpretation of gendered self, negotiating with new socio-cultural circumstances. One of the most profound characteristics of contemporary Japanese global migration is the large number of women therough ‘kokusai kekkon’ or cross-national marriage. Australia, where I conducted my research, is one of the most popular country of migration for these Japanese women marriage migrants. To investigate their interactions they carry out in the new society as a migrant woman, this essay in particular focuses how these women begin to re-interpret their gendered self and social roles in the new context after migration. In the process, I demonstrate how their ‘Japanese femininity’ is understood in a new （and even） positive light in the new host country. Finally, I conclude that this mode of cultural interaction reveals a certain ambivalence when they further engage with the mainstream Australian society.in the new socio-cultural environment. |
