| 内容記述 | 本稿は1993年と2023年に実施した現地調査を通じて，泉佐野市の地場産業である泉州タオルの変容についてみたものである。今治タオルと二大産地を形成している泉州タオルは1970年代から1980年代にかけて工場数と生産量はピークを迎えた。その後は輸入タオルとの競合や国内需要低迷により工場数と生産量は減少し，産地内では主力の浴用タオル以外のバスタオルやハンカチタオルなど製品の多様化で乗り切る動きがみられた。近年はさらに，関西国際空港開港後の都市化でタオル工場から住宅地への転用が目立ち，工場数と生産量はともにピーク時の2割程度となっている。この状況に対して約30軒のタオル工場が自社ブランドを立ち上げ，大阪タオル工業組合がそれらのブランドタオルを「泉州こだわりタオル」という名称で商標登録し，産地内で企画・生産・販売の一体化がみられはじめた。しかし，2019年に老舗で経営規模の比較的大きいタオル工場が大手繊維専門商社の傘下に入り，産地内はこの中央資本の大規模工場と地場資本の中小零細工場群とが併存している。 | |||||||||

| 内容記述 | This thesis observes the transformation of the Senshu towel industry through the field surveys conducted in 1993 and 2023. Senshu is the southern region of Osaka Prefecture, with Izumisano City as its hub, has been leading the Japan’s towel production along with Imabari in Ehime Prefecture. Peaking out in 1970’s to 80’, however, the number of factories and the output of Senshu towel industry have shrunk to less than 20% of the heyday. It was mainly due to the following reasons; competition with imported towels, stagnant domestic demands and urbanization of the area accelerated by the launch of the Kansai International Airport. Considerable number of the towel factories were converted to residential properties. In order to break through the adversities, the towel manufacturers diversified their products and developed ecological and value-added lines. Osaka Towel Kogyo Kumia (the Osaka Towel Produecers’ Guild) registered these new lines as Senshu Kodawari Towel brand. (Kodawari means something with elaboration and devotion.) This has helped to integrate designing, production and marking processes form customer oriented perspectives. Yet in 2019, one of the large established producers was absorbed to a major textile trading firm. Since then in the Senshu towel industry a big cash-rich factory coexists with numerous local small-sized manufacturers. | |||||||||
