| 内容記述 | 地域通貨は、失われたコミュニティーの再生、地域経済の活性化といった機能を期待され、日本だけでも400の通貨がすでに稼働している。しかしながら、地域通貨が当初期待された機能を十分に果たすことができるかどうか、また、そのための条件が何であるのかに関する知識は必ずしも十分ではない。本論文では、地域通貨が期待された機能を十全に発揮するための条件＝「成功条件」を検討するための1つの道筋を提示しようとするものである。このために、20の地域通貨の運営者に対して、電子メールによる調査、電話による聞き取り調査、面接などを併用しながら、その現状についてのデータを収集した。また、このデータについて、プール代数アプローチとよばれる手法を適用し、地域通貨が成功するための必要・十分条件の整理を試みた。その結果、一般商店での利用が出来ることが重要な成功条件であることが導き出され、さらに、都市部において「地域経済活性化型」と「中流ポランティア促進型」が、また、非都市部において「コミュニティ再生型」と名づけられるような成功条件の型があることが整理された。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | This article elucidated the necessary and sufficient conditions for the success of local currency in Japan. Though the success of local currency could be defined with reference to several functions, frequency in use of local currency was taken as a major index of success. In order to elucidate conditions for success of local currency, a survey using e-mail was conducted for steering committees in Japan. Information regarding frequency in use, number of members, membership requirements, scope of the member's circle, availability for shopping in local stores, etc. was evaluated. The application of Boolean algebra in the analysis ( ="comparative methods") showed that the availability for shopping in local stores was one key to success. It was also found that the conditions for success could be reduced to three main types: stimulating local economic activity in an urban area, assisting volunteer activity in an urban area, and activating the local community in an rural area. | |||||
