| 内容記述 | Recent decades saw strange and exquisite carpets emerge and soon established its position in the markets for Iranian hand-woven carpets. This pictorial carpet (tāblo-farsh) looks just like a painting. This essay explores the designs of these pictorial carpets and reveals their trends, focusing on product catalogs for distributors. Consequently, we found out the following : (1) To make a duplicate carpet from original art, carpet designers selected famous works including Western oil paintings dating from the 19th to 21st centuries as well as watercolors, including Bouguereau's 'The Madonna of the Roses', Auguste Cot's 'The Storm' and Alma-Tadema's 'The Finding of Moses' etc. and although some are created by lesserknown artists, all employ techniques of realistic arts. (2) In addition, although most of the pictorial carpets are duplicated from original paintings as-is, in some cases, the carpet designers correct the details and crop unwanted areas from the originals to improve framing as an expression of their own creativity. (3) Apart from carpets duplicating Western and Iranian masterpieces, there are also some original designs copying local landscapes like orchards and gardens of the Sardroud region, a major production hub for pictorial carpets in Iran. | |||||
