| 内容記述 | 希少な植物や昆虫が生育する長野県木曽町開田高原の半自然草地の来歴の一端を把握するため，大馬地主であった山下家の古記録を用いて幕末から明治期の当家の馬の保有頭数と販売頭数の推移，地籍図を用いて明治末から昭和前期頃の開田高原の土地利用景観，現地調査から現在の草地利用を明らかにし，近世以降の開田高原の草地利用の変化について検討した。その結果，それらの半自然草地は18世紀前半頃までは放牧，干草採取，焼畑による不規則な利用，18世紀後半からは放牧，干草採取，夏草採取による規則的な利用，1960年頃からは小規模な牛農家による野草利用の継続，1990年頃からは各集落の火入れにより維持されてきたと推測された。草地利用は水田開発が盛んに行われ馬産がピークを迎えた明治期に最も集約化し，近年「伝統的草地管理」といわれる土地を区切り隔年で春先の火入れと秋の刈取りを繰り返す利用形態は草地利用の集約化が始まった19世紀以降に成立したと考えられた。 | |||||||||

| 内容記述 | The purpose of this study is to understand part of the history of semi-natural grasslands with rare plants and insects in the Kaida Highland, Nagano Prefecture. The numbers of horses owned and sold by the Yamashita family, large landowners who had many horses, during the late Edo period and the Meiji period were identified from the family’s old records. Cadastral maps were examined to clarify the land use from the late Meiji period to the early Showa period in the two case study areas. Current grassland use was determined though field surveys. On the basis of these results, changes in grassland use since the early modern period are discussed. It is concluded that these semi-natural grasslands were maintained by irregular land use of grazing, haying, and slash-and-burn cultivation in the first half of the 18th century, regular land use of grazing, haying, and summer grass collection from the second half of the 18th century, continued use of wild grasslands by small cattle farmers from about 1960, and burning around villages from about 1990. Grassland use was most intensive during the Meiji period, when rice fields were actively developed and horse breeding was at its peak. The more recent “traditional grassland management,” in which land is divided and burned in early spring and hay is cut in the fall every other year, was considered to have been established after the 19th century, when grassland use became more intensive. | |||||||||
