内容記述 | Education can shape people’views. Today, Taiwan is often perceived as “pro-Japanese,” with a strong attitude of friendliness toward Japan among its society. I believe that an important reason for that is the colonial education implemented by Japan in Taiwan from 1895 to 1945, spanning 50 years. This article will go back to the early days of the Japanese colonial education, with a focus on how the colonial authorities initiated the educational efforts in Taiwan to reshape the thinking of its residents. The starting point and a crucial aspect of colonial education lay in language; therefore, this paper will primarily examine early publications related to learning the Japanese language. This study aims to elucidate how Japan constructed the colonial language education system and, consequently, to clarify the reasons behind the “pro-Japanese phenomenon” in Taiwanese society. Currently, research on early Japanese language textbooks mostly involves individual studies, focusing on specific textbooks. There is a lack of comprehensive research that synthesizes these early compiled Japanese language : related books. Therefore, this paper will integrate an examination of these early compiled Japanese language books, analyze their characteristics, and further clarify the features of early Japanese language teaching in Taiwan. This approach explores the architecture of the Japanese language education system, sheds light on the transformation of thinking through colonial education, and underscores its association with pro-Japanese sentiments. | |||||
