| 内容記述 | The paper gives an account of the location and preservation of the Liu Pingguo inscription of Kuča dated the Eastern Han Dynasty, and makes new researches from two respects on it. First, according to the recently-discovered inscriptive writings and related inspection records in Chinese and foreign languages, the paper reviews the inscription’s discovery and preservation in late Qing Dynasty and confirms that it was firstly discovered by Shi Buhua in the 5th year of Guangxu era (1879). Second, considering the historical background of modern Xinjiang, the author proposes that the discovery of the Liu Pingguo inscription is related with Zuo Zongtang’s strategy for retaking the occupied region of Yili by Russia. In fact, the inscription was an unexpected finding when Zhang Yao, Zuo Zongtang’s man, led his troops to make a breakthrough advancing from Baicheng area to Yili. | |||||
