| 内容記述 | “Ziyou”, a word originally from the Chinese classics, has been used in Japan since the end of the 16th century. In modern times, the word was introduced again to China as the translation of “liberty” and played an important role in the Sino-Japanese languageinterchange history. In this article, the history of translation of “ziyou” both in China nd Japan will be discussed. By making comparative analysis, we see how Sino-Japanese intellectuals with different cultural and political backgrounds adopted the western concept of “liberty” through their modern translation enterprise. | |||||
