| 内容記述 | The so called 'westernized scholar' such as Yukichi Fukuzawa, initially worked on Chinese studies (Hangaku) but gradually moved to Rangaku and Western studies. The Chinese studies stipulate that material once learned should not disappear even if the individuals change their minds. When considering western studies, one notices that traditional Chinese studies supplement the understanding of the western study concept. This paper investigates Fukuzawa's mentality in 'Science Advocacy in Encouragement to Learn'. It had been on the best seller's list for many years in Meiji Era. The two concepts of 'Heaven' and 'Actual Science' are incorporated into it. Although these two concepts have already previously established themselves in Chinese studies, Fukuzawa used it and clarified that the new concept was created by disclosing Western studies. | |||||
