| 内容記述 | Toto-Chan : The Little Girl at the Window is an autobiographical novel written by Tetsuko Kuroyanagi published in March 1981 in Japan by Kodansha. It has been translated into various languages around the world and has a large cohort of readers in each country where it has been translated. Among the translations are a total of 22 different Chinese-language versions from Taiwan region and the mainland of China the most of any language. The fact that there are so many Chinese-language translations shows not only that the story is well-understood by Chinese-speaking readers, but that it is a bridge for transmission of Japanese culture. This paper focuses on the translation of words related to Japanese material culture in Chinese versions of Toto-Chan : The Little Girl at the Window. Moreover, this paper examines how the translators rendered Japanese into Chinese, how they expressed cultural aspects found in the original, and how those concepts were conveyed to Chinese-speaking readers. These works can contribute to comparative research in Japanese-Chinese literary translation. | |||||
