 note = {This study aims to address the trends in the criteria for selection of World Heritage sites. Part One analyzes chronologically the changes in selection criteria [(i) to (vi)] for World Cultural Heritage sites. Using empirical research, the study examines any selection bias and UNESCO’s response to it. In Part Two, the study focuses on World Heritage sites in geographical margins, such as islands and peninsulas. It examines how they are used as places for people to migrate to, and to isolate specific groups of people, and how they end up as places where a variety of cultures intersect. Some of these areas preserve specific lifestyles/cultures, in part due to their limited development. By offering a new appreciation of the cultural value of marginal communities, they may receive consideration as World Heritage sites. The study also considers, in contrast, how development can disqualify a community from World Heritage site designation. For example, Dresden Elbe Valley in Germany was deleted from UNESCO’s World Heritage list due to the construction of a new bridge across the Elbe River-a choice made by the residents. By examining the process behind local residents’ choices for development, the study seeks to understand the relationship between the World Heritage Convention and development versus protection of living space., 本稿では、世界遺産登録基準の傾向を明らかにすることを目的とする。まず、世界文化遺産の登録基準について、 (ⅰ) から (ⅵ) の選択件数の時期別の推移を分析することで、どのような観点から世界遺産が登録されているのか、検討し、登録の偏りとそれに対するユネスコの方策について実証的に考察する。続いて、本稿では、島や半島といった辺境地域に焦点を当てる。辺境では、逃れるように人が移り住んだり、特定の人々を隔離したりするのに利用されることもあれば、様々な文化が交錯する場となったりすることもある。また、これらは、辺境にあるという点で、開発から取り残され、結果として固有の生活の営みあるいは痕跡が残っているということもある。これらに新たな文化的価値を付与することで、世界遺産登録の対象として捉えられるのである。一方で、ドレスデン（ドイツ）では、世界遺産登録後、住民の意志でエルベ川流域に新しい橋の建設が進められたことで、世界遺産登録が抹消された事例もある。ここでは地域住民が開発を選択するプロセスを分析し、世界遺産制度と生活空間の保存の関係について問う。, 本稿は、平成25年度－平成27年度科学研究費助成事業・基盤研究 (C) 「ユネスコ世界遺産に関する比較社会学的研究」（研究代表者：荻野昌弘、課題番号：25380724）による研究成果の一部である。},
