The purpose of this study was to delineate personality traits that distinguish student athletes from non-athletes, based on the Five-Factor Model. Student athletes (188 males) and non-athletes (68 males) completed a questionnaire. Scores on each of the Big Five personality traits—Neuroticism, Extraversion, Openness to Experience, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness—were compared between groups.
