| 内容記述 | This study explores how marital bonds are maintained during the low-economic growth period since the mid-1970s in Japan. The author conceptualizes marital bonds as shared responsibilities and outcomes of paid work (breadwinning) and unpaid work (housework and caring) for family members. Data obtained from the National Family Research of Japan conducted in 1999 are analyzed. Results are as follows. First, during the low-economic growth period, the wives' responsibility and actual contribution to breadwinning for the family has increased while the husbands' contribution in the housework and caring work has not. The institutional support for facilitating men's work-family balance has not developed either. Second, with husbands' low contribution in the housework on the one hand and poor institutional support for it on the other, wives with high-income husbands but no small children have the highest marital satisfaction, whereas the other wives such as those with small children or those with a low-income husband have lower marital satisfaction. Third, for the latter wives, it is only the husbands' personal efforts of frequently expressing their affection to the wives that increase those wives' marital satisfaction. In conclusion, it is discussed that in order to tackle the problem of youth low marriage rates and low fertility, public measures for facilitating work-family balance are needed. | |||||

| 内容記述 | 本研究では日本における夫婦関係を、1970年代半ばの低成長期以降に焦点をあてて分析する。分析枠組みとして「夫婦の絆」を、〈生活の共同〉と〈愛情〉(情緒的側面)の2側面に分け、さらに前者の〈生活の共同〉は配偶者が稼ぐ〈お金〉を共有することと、配偶者が行う〈家事〉(育児・介護も含む)の成果を共有することという2つの要素からなるという枠組みを採用する。 まず第2次大戦後～高度成長期において、〈生活の共同〉と〈愛情〉がどのようなものだったかについて先行研究をもとに述べる。次に低成長期～現在に焦点を当て、〈生活の共同〉と〈愛情〉、そして両者の関係がどう変化したかについて、「家族についての全国調査」(NFRJ98) のデータを用いて分析する。その結果、次のような知見を得た。①低成長期以降、男性1人の収入で生活できる家族と、妻による補助的就労を必要とする家族の2つに分化した。②女性の家計収入への貢献は増したが、男性の家事への貢献はそれほど増えていない。またそれを支援する制度も発達していない。つまり低成長期以降の〈生活の共同〉とは、女性の家計収入への貢献が期待され実際に貢献が高まっているにもかかわらず、男性の家事への貢献はそれほど進まずそれを支える制度もないというものである。③このような〈生活の共同〉の中で、結婚満足感が高いのは「乳幼児なし、かつ、夫が高収入」という夫婦であり、「乳幼児あり」あるいは「夫の収入があまり高くない」という夫婦の結婚満足感は高くない。④しかし夫からの〈愛情〉表現は妻の結婚満足感を高める効果が高い。つまり男性の中で〈愛情〉表現を頻繁にする人は、家事分担が難しいという現行制度の不備を、〈愛情〉を示すという個人的努力によって補っているといえる。最後に以上の結果をふまえて、若者の非正規化とその結果としての結婚難・出産難が進む中で、彼らの〈生活の共同〉面を支える制度の必要性について論じる。 | |||||
