| 内容記述 | There is some controversy on the definition and the measurement of Emotional Intelligence (EI). The definition of EI is divided into two models. One is the ability-based model that tends to focus on EI as an ability. The other is the mixed model that tends to focus rather on personality traits than on abilities. To confirm the factorial structure of the Emotional Intelligence Scale (EQS) published as a standardized scale of EI in Japan, two kinds of analyses according to the structural equation modeling (SEM) methodology were conducted using an university student sample (N=410). In the first analysis, applying exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis, there were no models that fit the original structures postulated by the authors of the EQS. In the second analysis, exploratory factor analysis was again conducted to find the most appropriate model for this sample. From 21 sub-scales as observed variables, six factors were extracted by Promax rotation. This six factor model was examined by the SEM strategy as an initial model for confirmation of the factorial structure of the EQS. The EQS fit at the best level (ex., CFI=.995, RMSEA=.022) to the model of the four first order factors and six second order factors corresponding to the mixed model of EI by Goleman (1995). Implications of these results were discussed. 情動知能(EI)の定義と測定にはいつくかの議論がある。EIの定義は、2つのモデルに分かれる。1つは能力としてのEIに焦点を当てる傾向にある能力ベースのモデルである。もう1つは、能力よりはむしろパーソナリティ特性に焦点を当てる傾向にある複合的モデルである。日本のEIの標準化された尺度として刊行されている情動知能尺度(EQS)の因子の構造を確認するために、構造方程式モデリング(SEM)方法論に従って、2種類の分析を、大学生標本 (N=410)に対しておこなった。最初の分析では、探索的因子分析と確認的因子分析を適用してみたが、EQSの著者たちがオリジナルに仮定していた構造と適合するモデルはなかった。第2の分析では、この標本に最も適合したモデルを探すために、探索的因子分析を適用した。観測変数とする21個の下位尺度に対して、6因子がPromax回転から得られた。EQSの因子の構造を確認するために初期モデルとしてこの6因子モデルがSEMの手法で検討された。 EQSは、Goleman(1995)によるEIの複合的モデルに対応する1次4因子と2次6因子からなるモデルに最高レベルで適合した(ex., CFI=.995, RMSEA=.022)。 |
