First, we summarize the tsunami damage and evacuation of railway passengers in the 1944 Showa-Tonankai Earthquake and the 1946 Showa-Nankai Earthquake. Secondly, we will describe the features of railway tsunami countermeasures based on the severe tsunami assumption.
