| 内容記述 | The transitions and changes of the Ming and Qing dynasties in the seventeenth century were not only relevant to China, but were also closely associated with and influenced by the countries of East Asia. In order to fight against the Qing dynasty, the Ming dynasty undertook a series of rescue activities during that period, namely ‘begging’ for military assistance from other countries. A certain amount of research has previously been done on the emissaries who went to Japan, Vietnam and Europe to seek reinforcements and their experiences. The story of Wang Yining, who requested assistance from Joseon, and his experiences in ‘begging’ troops in Joseon has not yet been collated, nor has the full picture of the dealings between Ming, Later Jin and Joseon in the Liaodong Peninsula area at the time been fully elucidated. In response to the above questions, this article firstly compares and explains Wang Yining's life story and the background to his ‘begging’ of military assistance from Joseon, and re-examines the situation in Liaodong at the end of the Ming Dynasty in the first year of Tianqi and the early negotiations between Joseon and the Later Jin through the incident of Wang Yining’s ‘begging’. At that time, the Joseon side, which focused on the movements of the Later Jin and sought to establish diplomatic relations with them, chose to reject Wang Yining’s request for military assistance.
