Many westerners have come to China extensively since the arrival of missionary Robert Morrison (1782-1834) in Guangzhou. To read Chinese classics and communicate with the Chinese people, learning Chinese characters became their essential task. Then, when they learn Chinese characters, they first learn about the head of the department. Therefore, Westerners attach great importance to the radical system. That’s when the book was written. The author Thomas Jenner uses the scientific associative mnemonics, and 214 radicals correspond to English keywords.
