Shiraga then concentrates for about 10 years creating various compositions in response to changes of his body motion. In 1960s, Shirga’s feet-paintings goes into recess for about 15 years so he can look into different ways to paint without using his feet; Shiraga ends up structuring compositions by adapting effective backgrounds to express subject matters. Around 1979, after a comeback to the feet-paintings, Shiraga starts to focus not on overcoming his past expression, but on applying appropriate actions, which have been already explored, to express the subject matter.
