Translators and researchers have explored Yan Fu’s “xin, da, ya” from diverse perspectives, and a large number of monographs and papers have accrued on this subject. However, the deductions derived from the extant discourse may not be appropriate. Xie Tianzhen, a translation theory scholar, believes that “xin, da, ya” should be reinterpreted, indicating that “xin, da, ya” originally emanated from Yan Fu’s personal experience and experience. This author also believes that “xin, da, ya” is not a universal translation standard as much as it represents a solution to problems Yan Fu encountered between 1895 and 1896 during his conversion of Tianyan Lun. In Yan Fu’s view, “xin=faithfulness” denotes loyalty to the original and is the starting point of translation, while “da = expressiveness“ signifies the transmission of the meaning and content of the original work to readers and is the ultimate purpose of a translation task. In 1896, Yan Fu adopted numerous techniques to manifest “xin, da=faithfulness, expressiveness.” The element of “ya=elegance” represents the standard of the article and symbolizes the indispensable style of accurately conveying the meaning and content of the original work. Yan Fu claimed that it was “easy to achieve ’da= expressiveness’ with the word method and syntax before the Han Dynasty.” This opinion aligns with Zhang Taiyan’s proposition that translators must be proficient in philology. In parallel, Yan Fu’s “ya=elegance” shares some features with Hu Shi’s “literary national language” and Zhou Zuoren’s national language transformation, but opposes them in methodology. Yan Fu’s term, “xin, da, ya,” is closely related to the traditional Chinese literary theory statements, “the article should be honest,” “if only language could convey meaning,” and “if the article is indecent, it cannot be widely circulated.” Yan Fu’s iterations and actions related to his translation practice must be carefully confirmed to appropriately describe “xin, da, ya.” Studies must also simultaneously contemplate the limitations of Chinese in Yan Fu’s time and consider the opinions of other translators.","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_10_description_5":{"attribute_name":"内容記述","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_description":"本稿は、日本学術振興会科学研究費補助金:基盤研究C「日中における言文一致の語彙的基盤に関する研究(A Study on the Lexical Basis of Japanese-Chinese Language Consistency)」(2022年度~2024年度、研究代表者:沈国威)による成果の一部を含んでいる。","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_10_full_name_3":{"attribute_name":"著者別名","attribute_value_mlt":[{"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"51798","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}],"names":[{"name":"Shen, Guowei"}]}]},"item_10_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.32286/00027184","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_10_publisher_34":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"関西大学東西学術研究所"}]},"item_10_source_id_10":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AN0004709X","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_10_source_id_8":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"02878151","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_10_version_type_17":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorAffiliations":[{"affiliationNameIdentifiers":[{"affiliationNameIdentifier":""}],"affiliationNames":[{"affiliationName":""}]}],"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"沈, 国威","creatorNameLang":"ja"},{"creatorName":"Shin, Kokui","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"familyNames":[{"familyName":"沈","familyNameLang":"ja"},{"familyName":"Shin","familyNameLang":"en"}],"givenNames":[{"givenName":"国威","givenNameLang":"ja"},{"givenName":"Kokui","givenNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{},{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2022-08-25"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"KU-0400-20220701-05.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"975.9 kB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"KU-0400-20220701-05.pdf","url":"https://kansai-u.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/23171/files/KU-0400-20220701-05.pdf"},"version_id":"ca0dc02d-b5f0-4103-8436-56b4a875bf9f"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"Yan Fu","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"[xin=faithfulness, da=expressiveness, ya=elegance]","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Article specification","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Chinese Philology","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Zhang Taiyan","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"厳復","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"信達雅","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"文章規範","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"小学[中国文字学]","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"章太炎","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"関西大学","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"},{"subitem_subject":"Kansai University","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"近代翻訳史における厳復の「信達雅」","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"近代翻訳史における厳復の「信達雅」"}]},"item_type_id":"10","owner":"10","path":["3105"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2022-08-25"},"publish_date":"2022-08-25","publish_status":"0","recid":"23171","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["近代翻訳史における厳復の「信達雅」"],"weko_creator_id":"10","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-11-28T03:25:26.078286+00:00"}
