After working on sculptures and paintings, Arakawa has been presenting architectural works since the 1990s. That is also the factor that makes Arakawa unique in contemporary art. However, architecture was indispensable for Arakawa to realize his idea of “reversible destiny” that aims to reverse human’s destiny of mortality. The purpose of this paper is to consider the concept and idea of the reversible of destiny that Arakawa tried to realize by architecture from the viewpoint of pedagogy. First, we will focus on Arakawa’s research in pedagogy and Arakawa itself. Next, we will consider important concepts such as “reversible destiny,”“organism that persons,” and “architectural body” in Arakawa’s idea of reversible destiny, which is related to this paper. Then, by analyzing the video works in which Arakawa is actually involved with children, we will consider the relationship with Arakawa’s children as an educator and the message to children.
