In this paper, through focusing on the studies of the Osaka Painting Schools (Osaka Gadan) from the Edo period to the modern era, I would like to point out the problems in compiling a bibliography in this field and discuss its significance. With the development of the Internet and other technologies, experienced knowledge is no longer required for searching the relevant literature.
