But as the study of historical materials progressed, it was recognized that proclamations, although few, were also valuable as vernacular materials. Among them, a Qing official named Zhang Wuwei introduced elements of vernacular and colloquialism into his proclamations to advise and indoctrinate the people. In addition, the style of Zhang Wuwei's writings is a mixture of literary and colloquial styles, which shows the characteristics of his writings in consideration of different subjects and purposes, despite the fact that his writings were written in the pre-modern era and required a consistent style.
