内容記述 | This essay will focus on the horizon in revolution during the May-fourth movement to draw out the possibility with thought. It is hard to deny how much revolution as main theme has been a guiding force to usher forward, the Chinese Republic, so constructed upon its own revolutionary summons. However, from perspective of what conditions prevailed after the Chinese Republic was built, there seemed to still not be resolved so many intensive confl icts within the internal workings of Chinese culture and politics ‒ all as relevant also to ongoing threat of imperialist expansion, encroachment upon China from abroad. On the contrary, the revolutionary tendency was intensifi ed by the wish of Chinese people to respond to questions raised by confrontation with external powers and just secondarily as being able to stand up to such, her internal struggles with party politics and with feuding among local warlords during the early 20th century. What however is revolution? How is it possible for us to understand the conditions of revolutionary thoughts behind the May-Fourth movement? For this, Zhu Qian-zhi used to inquire: Is there the meaning of revolution in critical thinking or not? Shouldn’t our thought in critiques be pushed forward to (apply to) the revolution? Is it possible to call our thought critical thinking without there being revolution (to emerge out of it) ? Here, although Zhu very consciously assessed existing diff erences between reforms being made in revolutionary thought and of critical thinking in general to be problematic, it still seems necessary for us to explore what arguments he made further: Can the revolution equally be treated there of into party politics? Or does the revolution just function as a slogan for the “new culture” in its desire to clean up old thinking - thinking of the old generation? What the actual meaning of revolution pointed is to be the confrontations between the 袁世凱 (Yuan Shih-kai)and the construction within form of State during the period of the May-Fourth Movement after 1919, or to be a certain way of recognition in social classes when Chinese Communist Party was established in 1921? Could we just attribute the sense about revolution of the May-Fourth Movement into a prorogation within Science and Democracy as such? How radical changes can it make by the thought of revolution? How radical changes do we need? Whom should we revolt? What type of revolution should we revolt? |
