内容記述 | This article rethinks the two uses and two historical contexts of the “Taiwan New Music” from the perspective of the cultural history of Taiwanese music in the 20th Century by contrasting different viewpoints. The paper also examines the difference and similarity of the cultural imagination of the two new music routes. The first was in the 1930s when Taiwan was in the Japanese colonial period, Columbia initiated the industry of the modern records of Taiwan, and many folk artists and the intellectuals dedicated to this industry; meanwhile, the Taiwanese in Japan “went back” to give performances for the first time. The second time was in the late 1980s, Taiwan was around the period of the deregulation, during the time when the industry of the Taiwan’s popular music came to maturity and soon entered the phase of globalization. Nonmainstream music club and Wax Club started to gather, and published the music journal ‘The Rocker’; therefore, many new creative singers dedicated to the music festival of Taipei. This article emphasizes on the composition of the field of popular music production, and re-discusses that the “new” of Taiwan New Music is a re-interpretation of the so-called modernity and locality in the musical practice and production, and also produces the differences from the mainstream culture and the ruler’s cultural ideology. | |||||
