| 内容記述 | In Daoist Rituals in Taiwan, there are some rites or actions in which names contain “water” and in which water is really used. For example, there are rites such as “Inviting the Water”請水 and “Sealing the Altar with Charmed Water 敕水禁壇”, which the Orthodox Unity 正一 Red-head Daoist Masters 紅頭道士 perform as part of the Offering of Praying for Peace 祈安醮 or in the Ritual Honoring the Northern Dipper 禮斗法會. “Inviting the Water” is a rite in which Daoist priests purify the altar by inviting the Dragon Deities of the Five Directions 五方龍神 and spraying consecrated water on the altar, then bringing the water to use in the ritual. “Sealing the Alter with Charmed Water”is a ritual in which the Daoist priests purify the altar with talismans and consecrated water, inviting the Four Numina 四靈（the Green Dragon 青龍, White Tiger 白虎, Red Sparrow 朱雀, and Dark Warrior 玄武） to protect the four corners of the altar. The priest also establishes protective wards in the five directions in order to expel unclean pneumas and prevent them from invading the inner and outer altars. Since the primary goal of these two rites is purification, the water plays a key role in accomplishing this result. The water used in such rituals is not normal water, but rather the water of the dragon deities, which Daoist priests obtain by going to a source in the mountains or other sacred place and performing a specific ritual there. In this way, the water is strongly associated with the worship of dragon deities. Focusing on the rites and actions in which water is used in the Daoist rituals in Taiwan, this report will describe the purpose of these rituals and how they are performed. Moreover, through an analysis of the significance of water in these rites and its centrality to their efficacy, it will consider the relationship between Taiwanese Daoist ritual and the worship of dragon deities. | |||||
