Subsequently, as Western forces began to retreat gradually from China by World War I, this company founded using Chinese national capital grew into a well-established steamship company. However, this company was integrated along with a number of private steamship companies into the Shanghai in 1950, after the establishment of the People's Republic of China. Until then it operated over the first half of the 20th century as Sanbei-lunbu Gongsi, yet remains little-known.
