| 内容記述 | This article examines Niren Ishō authored by Fujita Yūkoku (1774-1826), a leading figure of late Mito Studies. It was written after Yūkoku lost his father at the age of eighteen; while observing the three-year period of mourning (shinsō) in accordance with Confucian ritual, he collected and compiled examples of ancient figures who served as models for mourning, adding his own interpretations and explanations in order to discuss the merits and shortcomings of mourning practices. Despite being an important work, Niren Ishō has not been the subject of sustained scholarly investigation. To address this gap, this article examines the text's structure and contents, as well as the process leading to its publication. It then analyzes Yūkoku's views on ritual as reflected in Niren Ishō and concludes by elucidating the work's intellectual significance. The findings of this study not only contribute to scholarship on Yūkoku's thought, particularly as grounded in jin and kō (benevolence and filial piety) but also help shed light on the logic of Confucian ritual that has yet to be fully explored within late Mito Studies shaped by the concepts of chūkō itchi (the unity of loyalty and filial piety) and saisei itchi (the unity of ritual and governance). | |||||||||
