| 内容記述 | This study investigates the popular deification of Zhao Bing (Emperor of Song), the last emperor of the Southern Song dynasty, with a particular focus on the regions of Quanzhou, Zhangzhou, Chaozhou, and Huizhou. Based on fieldwork and historical sources, it explores how collective memory of Zhao Bing has been preserved through localized religious practices. He is venerated both as an autonomous deity and through symbolic assimilation into established pantheons. For instance, in Quanzhou, by contrast, he is venerated as the independent deity known as the Sun and Moon Taibao (Riyue Taibao). In Zhangzhou, he is believed to have become embodied in the deity Zhou Cang, a subordinate of Guan Yu. These practices represent a cultural response to the fall of the Song dynasty, in which collective trauma is mediated through religious syncretism and symbolic transformation. The paper highlights the role of popular religion as a vehicle for reconstructing and sustaining historical memory in the aftermath of dynastic collapse. | |||||||||
