| 内容記述 | This paper examines the sugar industry in Taiwan from the Dutch East India Company's rule to the early Qing period, with a focus on Huang Shujing's book "Taihai Shicha Lu Volume 3: Chikan Bitan" (1736) and the journal of the Dutch East India Company called the "Recapture of Fort Zeelandia" (1667). It incorporates various sources such as Song Yingxing's "Tiangong Kaiwu" (1637), "Continuation of the Annals of Tainan City" (1997), and "Annals of Taiwan Prefecture" (1694) to provide a multifaceted analysis. Specifically, it explores the history of Taiwan's sugar manufactures during its nascent period under Dutch East India Company rule and its developmental period during the Ming Zheng Periods, along with the sugar manufactures policies of the time, and verifies the actual production conditions of the sugar manufactures. Additionally, it examines the sugar technology used in Taiwan at the time and elucidates their position within the context of global sugar technological history. Finally, it investigates the natural conditions (soil, terrain, climate, etc.) around present-day Tainan City, the central region of Taiwan's sugar manufactures, to assess how geographical factors influenced the development of the sugar manufactures. | |||||
