| 内容記述 | As a typical form of nature worship, reverence for thunder originates from the concept of animism. The advent of agriculture and animal husbandry emphasized the profound impact of natural phenomena on social production. Favorable weather conditions yielded prosperous harvests, whereas adverse conditions resulted in scant or failed crops. These experiences fostered a dual attitude of reverence and fear toward nature. Consequently, various natural objects and phenomena, initially regarded as totems, were gradually deified and personified. They were endowed with divine attributes and roles, leading to the development of specific rituals dedicated to worshipping these natural deities. The worship and belief in the God of Thunder, though long-standing, have a highly complex formation process. In the early stages of human cognition, when natural phenomena were poorly understood, the fear of powerful natural disasters was inevitable. People often attributed such phenomena to deities controlling wind, rain, thunder, and lightning, giving rise to the belief in the God of Thunder. Associated rituals reflected the people’s hopes and fears. Moreover, the Taoist system further integrated records of thunder gods and promoted them widely among the populace, enhancing the influence of related rituals and leading to the extensive dissemination of thunder god beliefs. This study will examine the early worship of natural thunder and the origins of thunder god beliefs, focusing on the evolution of the God of Thunder’s image. | |||||||||
