| 内容記述 | The term Dao Tong (道統) was originally coined by Zhu Xi (朱熹). However, the earliest conceptualization of this orthodoxy may be traced back to t Mengzi (孟子). During the Tang dynasty, although Han Yu (韓愈) did not explicitly use the term “Dao Tong,” he acknowledged the transmission of the Dao lineage through a sequence of sages—Yao, Shun, Yu, Tang, Wen, Wu, the Duke of Zhou, Confucius, and Mencius. By the Song dynasty, the Cheng brothers (程顥と程頤) asserted that they had inherited and revived this lineage after it had been considered to have lapsed, following Mencius. Subsequently, Zhu Xi formalized the Dao Tong theory by building upon the Cheng brothers’ scholarship. Conversely, thinkers from the Gongli School (事功学派), such as Chen Liang (陳亮) and She Shi (葉適), who were contemporary critics of Zhu Xi’s Neo-Confucianism, challenged this theory of orthodoxy. This paper examines the origins and development of the Dao Tong theory, as well as the criticisms raised by the Gongli School. | |||||||||
