The results indicated that maternal separation anxiety strengthened the child's perceived trust in the mother, that adaptive assistance weakened the trust, and that maternal self-confidence inhibited the child's psychological independence. In addition, trust and psychological independence from the mother were shown to enhance the child's self-efficacy.
