The Neri community, where the Forestry Mechanization Center is located, had been booming since the Neri Forest Railroad was constructed in 1940, but as the railroad declined and was discontinued, the community activities lost their vitality. This paper reviews the “Forestry Heritage” related to the Forestry Mechanization Center and the activities of the “Revive The Baldwin Executive Committee” that led to a turnaround of the situation, and also summarizes national policies for regional revitalization related to heritage, especially forest railroad. Heritage could be utilized for regional revitalization, thereby reaffirming the significance of their existence. We need to take a broader view of “forestry activities,” and to use knowledge from the fields of history, geography, and other academic disciplines to deal with the subject.
