| 内容記述 | 本稿では，武蔵国久保田村を事例として，近世中後期における零細な定期市の実態やその消長過程について検討した。久保田村は，近世横見郡における管見で唯一の定期市であり，村の南端付近の「宿並市場」で定期市が開催された。17世紀後期の久保田村は，近隣の松山町や鴻巣(こうのす)宿との間で市日を調整しつつ，この地域の市場網の一角を形成していた。しかし，18世紀になると久保田六斎市は衰滅に向かい，年末の2回の市日だけが残存する形で大市へと移行した。その後，19世紀になると，横見郡内での綿織物生産が拡大した。そして，1822年には騎西(きさい)町の商人が久保田村の3・8市日に市場庭を借り，生産者に綿を売付けて綿織物と糸を買付けるようになった。久保田六斎市の再興は，綿織物生産の拡大を基盤としつつ，特産品の集荷機能が模索された点に特徴があった。しかし，久保田六斎市に出る商人は再興から短期間で減少し，松山町の出訴もあって六斎市の再興は頓挫した。 | |||||||||

| 内容記述 | Kubota Village had the only periodic market in the Yokomi County of Musashi Province during the Edo era. In this study, I have examined the process of development, interruption, and reinstatement of the periodic market in Kubota Village. The Kubota periodic market was held in the urban district developing on both sides of the main street in southern Kubota Village. The people of Kubota Village set their market days to avoid them coinciding with the market days of other nearby towns, such as Konosu and Matsuyama. It was one of those periodic markets that formed the local market system in the late seventeenth century. In the eighteenth century, the Kubota periodic market was discontinued and turned into an annual fair held at the end of the year. In the early nineteenth century, the production of cotton textiles developed in the Yokomi County. The visiting traders from Kisai Town wanted these products and therefore started trading on the traditional market days of Kubota Village. Gradually, in 1822, Kubota Village became a periodic market for cotton textiles. However, the Kubota periodic market was put on hold again because the traders stopped opening stores in Kubota Village and the people of Matsuyama Town objected to the reinstatement of the Kubota periodic market. | |||||||||
