| 内容記述 | Zhu Xi, a prominent philosopher and politician in China during the Southern Song Dynasty, significantly influenced the Japan’s Edo period through the development of Zhuxism. Despite Zhu Xi’s immense contributions to the history of philosophy, his proficiency in calligraphy has often been overlooked by later generations. Hosoi Kohtaku, a renowned Karayou-sho calligrapher and Confucian during the Japanese Edo era, studied under the Karayou-sho progenitor Kitajima Setsuzan. In his compiled literary discussions, the Kanga Hyakutan, Zhu Xi’s name appears several times, and Hosoi’s engraving of Zhu Xi’s authentic calligraphy serves as evidence of Japan’s acceptance of Zhu Xi’s calligraphy : an aspect that has received limited scholarly attention. This paper examines Kanga Hyakutan and looks for the proof of Hosoi Kohtaku’s use of Zhu Xi’s calligraphy. | |||||
