Career self-reliance: individual workers are increasingly expected to take responsibility for their own long-term career development, due to concerns that companies cannot fulfil their employment responsibilities. Employees applying the discretionary work system, which legally guarantees process autonomy and boundary autonomy, are now exerting more boundary autonomy than before, and this trend is expected to increase in the future.
