| 内容記述 | In this paper, I focus on images of women in the "stories" of ancient Egyptian literature to reconstruct some reality of female life, unlike the stereotyped description as ideal. First, the literature is considered from the Old Kingdom to the Third Intermediate. Ancient Egyptian literature means not only literature in our time but also literal documents in general except ones of economic activities. The genres which women appeared are "inscriptions from private tombs," "didactic literature," and "stories." Description relating to women in "inscriptions from private tombs" is found in prayer for offerings, and in succession of property in will of male owner's tomb. The inscriptions show that there is no difference between men and women in prayer for offerings, and it was possible for women to involve succession of property by themselves. Unlike "inscriptions from private tombs," "didactic literature" has the stereotyped image of women: for example, how men should treat women. This paper focuses on "stories," not only on two genres mentioned above because this genre may elucidate some part of female position in society by how men express women in stories. Considering six stories in this paper, 16 words which are connected to women are found. Among them, the most frequent word is "wife" (ḥmt). However, women in the posit ion of "wife" were not mostly expressed in good way. The women called "mother" (mwt), who were referred to next to "wife," did not influence upon plots Moreover, other types of women are found; one is women who pleased men, another is one who occupied profession. In addition to these images, the words which mean feeble women (widow (ẖʒrt) and divorced woman (wḏ’t) were used as examples of who needed protection of men. The variety of words which were used around women gives a part of reality about the diversity of female life of that time. Moreover, by collecting examples of women's activities, they help to approach a part of real role of women in society. | |||||||||

| 内容記述 | 本稿では、古代エジプトの物語のなかで女性についての表現に焦点を当てることにより、理想的にステレオタイプ化された女性像ではなく、実際の女性像の一端を構築する試みを行った。まず、古王国時代から第三中間期に記された文学作品から検討を行った。古代エジプトでは現代と異なり、文学という言葉が意味する範囲は広く、経済活動に関する文書を除いた文字資料を指す。女性は、「私人墓に記された碑文」、「教訓文学」、「物語」のジャンルに現われた。「私人墓に記された碑文」のなかでの女性に関する記述は、決まりきった供養文と、男性の遺書の財産相続の項目のなかにみられる。これらから言えることは、供養文には男女の違いはなく、また財産相続においても、女性が自分の意志で行うことは可能であったといった女性像がみられる。これとは異なり、「教訓文学」では、男性がどのように女性を扱うべきかといったステレオタイプ化された女性のイメージが多い。本稿では、このような文学ジャンルに限定せず、「物語」のジャンルに焦点を当てた。これは、男性によって書かれた物語のなかに、女性がどう表現されているのかという視点から、実社会で女性がどう位置づけられているのかをある程度うかがい知ることができる可能性があるためである。本稿で取り上げた6つの物語のなかで、女性に関する単語は、16種類見つけることができた。その中でも、1番多く取り上げられていた女性の登場人物は「妻」(ḥmt) であったが、この立場で良く表現された人物はまれであった。「妻」の次に多く登場した人物は、「母親」(mwt) であるが、話の筋には大きな影響を与えることはなかった。これらの他には、男性を楽しませるための女性の存在や、職業に従事していたと思われる女性を見つけることができた。さらに、弱い立場の女性を表す単語で、「未亡人」(ẖʒrt) や「離婚した女性」(wḏ’t）もあり、男性の保謹を必要とする例として挙げられていた。女性を表す単語の種類から、当時の多様な女性像の現実がうかがえる。さらに、女性が従事した仕事の例を集めていくことにより、社会における女性の現実的な役割の一端の解明にアプローチすることができるであろう。 | |||||||||
