| 内容記述 | This is an attempt to restore the wall painting in the burial chamber of Mastaba Idout. Saqqara. The mastaba was constructed in Saqqara in the late Old Kingdom. At present, two thirds of the wall painting were detached from the walls. Comparing designs with two mastabas in Saqqara, I focused mainly on Mehu and Mereruka to restore the original painting of Mastaba Idout. The common decorations of walls are black zigzag line frieze in the upper part, rows of brown, blue, yellow and green rectangles on both sides, a group of black line, wide brown line, black line, wide yellow line at the bottom. The contents of the wall painting are in general offerings and offering list, then, palace facade, granaries and so on. It was rare to depict live humans or animals. In the burial chamber, there are paintings of some kinds of jars. The three main combinations of jars that we can see are: beer ･ water ･ beer, wine ･ beer ･ wine, and beer ･ wine ･ beer. Comparing the combination of jars among three burial chambers of Idout, Mehu and Mereruka, the jars of beer and wine are same in their designs among them. On the other hand, the jars with spots which contain water have a difference in color. Even though the color is different, it is supposed that the material of the water jar is same because of the shape and the combination. The jar should be made from spotted schist. The reconstruction of painting design of the south side of west wall is shown in Fig. 8. It is possible to restore to great degree the detached wall painting by comparing it with wall paintings of other mastabas. | |||||||||
