Saqqara Village is the nearest residence to the archaeological site Saqqara. The most of the villagers live as farmers, whereas some of them earn their living from excavation or tourism at the Archaeological site. On the other hand, neither tourist nor the people working for archaeology have visited Saqqara Village, and there have been no report about the life of the people living in Saqqara. The purpose of the study is to know the space structure and the lifestyle in Saqqara Village neighboring the archaeological site, which is a worldwide tourist attraction, and to forecast the future of this village. This year we performed the basic study: an investigation about the streets and the buildings in the village and an interview with 3 persons who engaged in the excavation work. |
