The Mastaba of Idout is located in Saqqara, and its painting in a burial chamber was kept in a good condition of underground envirorunent. Even so, the painting was deteriorated much during four thousands years and peeled down in majority of the painting. Due to the much deteriorated condition of painting and mother rock, the mission has adopted the method of detachment for saving the mural painting. The process of restoration consists of facing, backing, and (tentative) reattachment.
