This survey encompasses 12 years of data compiled longitudinally from 2011 to 2022. The present study performed descriptive analyses on repeated cross-sectional survey data. First, we examined the differences in non-response rates by question structures. The question structures of social demographic variables differed slightly across the survey years. We contemplated how the divergences in the question structures resulted in increased or decreased non-response rates. Second, we investigated temporal changes in life satisfaction. The public opinion surveys conducted by the Cabinet Office revealed that life satisfaction rates decreased from 2019 to 2021. This decline could result from two possible causes : the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic or the change in the survey mode from face-to-face to mail. The mode of conducting the Takatsuki Citizen Mail Survey remained the same and did not reveal any change in the life satisfaction reported by respondents in 2020.
