To do so, it examines how he and his music writers described the creative process of this album in the music press, magazines, and interviews. Ultimately, it argues that the discourse around Hoshino’s YELLOW DANCER reflects a multiculturalism rooted in Japanese culture and has helped limit the musical creativity of musicians, especially Black musicians, in the Japanese market.
