For the first two years it was edited by Chen Dieyi (陈蝶衣), and for the last two years it was edited by Ke Ling (柯灵). At that time this magazine was very famous and had a lot of readers, but in the history of Chinese literature few researches have been made about it because it has been always considered as a magazine belonging to the \"mandarin ducks and butterflies\" genre (鸳鸯蝴蝶派). Recently, some researchers in Chinese literature have been influenced by \"media research\" studies, and have begun to research into Wanxiang. But these researches were done almost only from editor perspective, not very often from the readers perspective. This paper aims to study Wanxiang from the perspective of the readers: what kind of people used to read this magazine and why. I chose to focus on the part of magazine which was edited by Chen Dieyi from 1941.7 to 1943.6, because the part which was edited by Ke Ling was totally different, and it would be better to be studied separately. I studied in particular three sections of Wanxiang dedicated to its readers. The numbers of Wanxiang which were published from 1941.7 to 1943.6 had three section for its readers, the \"editor's room\" (编辑室) which was the editor's postscript, the \"mail box\" of Wanxiang (万象信箱) which was a readers' contributions column and the \"short novels written by students\" section (学生文艺选). In the \"editor's room\" (编辑室), the editor Chen Dieyi maintained a direct communication with the readers, asking their advice on what to publish or suggesting them new writers works. This shows how important were readers for Wanxiang. In the \"mail box\" of Wanxiang (万象信箱), the readers could write their requests and suggestions. Many of them were about what they wanted to read or suggestions on how to better edit the magazine. But there were also readers who would write about their lives, their problem of marriage, work, money, etc… This kind of readers, as we can guess from what they wrote, were very young readers about 20‒30 years old and they had another thing in common, they were usually very poor. In the \"short novels written by students\" section (学生文艺选), we can see a lot of students (high school and university) contributions. Through the study of these three sections we can conclude that for the editors of Wanxiang readers were really important and we can also understand that a consistent part of its readers were very young (including high school and university students) and having tough lives. I would like to continue to study other magazines of the same period for better understanding who were their readers, the way they used to read/enjoy these magazines, why they would read these magazine and the relationship between readers and published novels.","subitem_description_type":"Other"}]},"item_10_full_name_3":{"attribute_name":"著者別名","attribute_value_mlt":[{"nameIdentifiers":[{"nameIdentifier":"4389","nameIdentifierScheme":"WEKO"}],"names":[{"name":"Ikeda, Tomoe"}]}]},"item_10_publisher_34":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"関西大学東西学術研究所"}]},"item_10_source_id_10":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AN0004709X","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_10_source_id_8":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"02878151","subitem_source_identifier_type":"ISSN"}]},"item_10_version_type_17":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"池田, 智恵"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{},{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2019-05-20"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"KU-0400-20140401-18.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"533.4 kB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"KU-0400-20140401-18.pdf","url":"https://kansai-u.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/1960/files/KU-0400-20140401-18.pdf"},"version_id":"819c144e-6bd3-4645-afb0-8d9fa8b8ca0b"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"jpn"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"departmental bulletin paper","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"上海淪陥期雑誌『萬象』とその読者","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"上海淪陥期雑誌『萬象』とその読者"}]},"item_type_id":"10","owner":"1","path":["294"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"公開日","attribute_value":"2014-08-07"},"publish_date":"2014-08-07","publish_status":"0","recid":"1960","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["上海淪陥期雑誌『萬象』とその読者"],"weko_creator_id":"1","weko_shared_id":1},"updated":"2023-05-15T15:03:54.240552+00:00"}
