He not only made achievements in the field of literature, but also achieved considerable accomplishments in calligraphy. Ouyang Xiu’s contribution to calligraphy is mainly reflected in his new calligraphy theories, which also laid the foundation for the formation of the "Shangyi" writing style in the Song Dynasty. Through Ouyang Xiu's calligraphy theory and calligraphy works, one can summarize his calligraphic thoughts, which are "Yide Weixian" (prioritizing morality), "Xueshu Weile" (studying calligraphy gives joy), "Zicheng Yijia" (have your own innovative style), and "Xueshu Youfa" (learning calligraphy can’t be without rules).
