内容記述 | Yosa Buson (1716-1783) was an incredibly talented haiku poet and a painter during mid Edo Period. In 1702, he completed the unfinished works of Matsuo Basho (1644-1694) The Narrow Road to the Deep North. Towards the end of the Anei Era, he painted three scrolls and adorned a folding screen with his work. In the late XVIII century the awakening of the Japanese Renaissance Period was evident, with Basho's works becoming highly prevalent. This trend has also made Buson's works very much in demand. Little is known however as to the extent of his works. In this essay I am going to envisage Buson's ability to incorporate Basho's complete works into some of the scenes of his own work. In each of the existing works he compares the existence of the characters, certain objects, and scenes within the boundaries of any adopted extract. He then designates the incidence of any unanimity or distinctiveness. Furthermore this essay elucidates that Buson's adopted scenes aren't just mere illustrations of Basho's famous works inserted into his own composition. Instead he presented them as a brilliant reconstruction of the entire masterpiece. | |||||
