Parts of the definition may be amplified at national levels. Thus, the Japanese Federation of Social Workers approved the Japanese Amplification of Social Work Profession. This shows that Japanese social work has developed by integrating Western-derived social work into Japanese cultures and institutions. This paper thus discusses on the mixture of Western social work theories and Japanese culture. First, it reviewed the 2014 definition. Second, it showed the features of Japanese culture. Third, it delineated the dilemma of Japanese social workers on Western social work and Japanese culture.
