In recent years, ships have attracted attention as an eco-friendly transportation method since ships emit less carbon dioxide per cargo than trucks. In addition, even if transportation on land is temporarily halted during largescale disasters such as the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake of 2011, ships can effectively transport goods between ports. The Japanese domestic shipping industry currently has many problems.
