| 内容記述 | ホッブズが宗教に係わる問題として取り組んだ基本的な問題は，「神とこの世の世俗主権者に共に従うことの難しさ」の問題である。ホッブズは，宗教論では，神の法とりわけ自然法が，神を信ずる人間の義務の源であると考えている。聖書のさまざまな個所を根拠としてホッブズが主張した基本的な論点は，自然法は主権者に対する絶対の服従を命じているということである。この論点は，彼のさまざまな著作を通じて変っていない。しかし，これを支持する彼の議論は完全に同じではない。小論では，The Elements of Law, Philosophical Rudiments concerning Government and Society (De Cive), Leviathan を比較検討し，De Homine, Behemoth をも参照しながら，彼の宗教論の構造と発展を明らかにしようとする。また，それぞれの著作での彼の議論が，どこで，どのようにして成り立っていないかを指摘しようとする。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | Thomas Hobbes's religious ideas centre around "the difficulty of obeying both God, and the Civill Soveraign on earth". In his arguments on religion Hobbes takes God's laws, especially the laws of nature, as the origin of believer's obligation. The key point, supported by various verses of the Scriptures, is that the laws of nature command simple obedience to the civil sovereign. This remains unchanged through his various works. But his arguments for it are not quite the same. In this paper I propose to ascertain the structure and development of his religious ideas through a comparative study of The Elements of Law, Philosophical Rudiments concerning Government and Society (De Cive) and Leviathan, referring also to De Homine and Behemoth, and at the same time to point out where and how his arguments in each work fail. | |||||
